Here at the Festival, we have always been committed to leaving the planet, and Ingalls Mall in particular, as beautiful as we found it.  GreenScene is an ambitious new project the Festival has launched as a way to make a vocal and public commitment to conscientiously greening the Festival wherever possible.  We are striving to make a variety of changes in the way we run everything Festival, from our marketing and promotions to operations and production.  We want to be as green as we can be!

Some of our GreenScene initiatives include:

  • Inviting community partners and environmental groups to provide eco-friendly activities and games at Top of the Park
  • Printing our season program, brochure, calendar and other marketing materials using recycled paper and soy ink
  • Promoting alternative methods of transportation to and from Festival events by encouraging attendees to use mass transit and providing specially designated bicycle parking lots
  • Doubling the number of recycling bins at all our events and ensuring that they are more prominently and clearly displayed
  • Working with local vendors whenever possible to conserve gas and transportation energy

As part of the overarching GreenScene initiative, the Festival is introducing Planet TOP on July 1, a special evening of environmentally conscious fun, education and activities.  With local environmental groups and organizations invited to participate in the evening’s festivities, Planet TOP will combine summer entertainment and environmental education within the fun, family-friendly setting of Top of the Park.
